I have a question on the newer duramax/8.1 2500hd/3500 pickups with an Allison. If you own one, preferably a long wheelbase crewcab long bed, does it have a fixed yoke on the transfer case rear output? If you have one of these trucks and could take a moment and just peak under and report back it would be greatly appreciated. Oh, if you do have it, could also please tell me your configuration as in crew cab, ext. cab, long bed, short bed, etc. Thanks /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Well, I need to know on the 4x4 since my project involves the transfercase. I know on the 98 and older, when the 2 piece rear driveline was utilized, such as an ext. cab or crew cab, there was a fixed yoke on the t-case and a slip in the center carrier bearing. Hopefully some of the allison equipped trucks came with this...

Hey Jason, Tony, (73K5Tony510) has one of those trucks. Eiher an 01 or 02 crew cab dually 4x4 with the 8.1 and Allison. /forums/images/graemlins/pimp1.gif

Dad's 2002 Duramax Crew Cab Shortbed is slipyoke with a hugeass aluminum driveshaft

My 2003 Duramax Ext Cab Shortbed is a slipyoke with a steel driveshaft.

Both have the allison and the 11.5" 14 bolt.

Hope it helps,
John

My brothers' old '01 (Duramax 6 speed ex. cab long bed) had slip yoke and one piece shaft. New '04 (Duramax Allison crew cab long bed) has two piece drive shaft which he thinks has a fixed yoke. He will check and I will confirm later. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

So does anyone possible know if there is a fixed yoke version of the nv263 available? I really need a fixed 32 pline tail shaft...

And why would GM go from a 32 spline input, 32 spline fixed rear output, 32 spline fixed front output on the 88-98 1 tons to a 29 spline input and front and rear slip yokes on the newer 8.1 and duramax trucks??? /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif

Another one of those great ideas from GM. My brothers crew cab has slip yoke (Dmax Allison long bed).

No problems with mine, it's been used in the dirt, loose gravel, and on ice (which can get interesting with over 500 ft/lbs on tap /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif )
