Looking to purchase an Arbor Press. I’ve always wanted one but never had one. I’m going to be re-arranging the garage in the next few months and moving in a big 4ft x 8ft steel work bench I picked up awhile back from a customer for free. I think I will have room to mount it on the new bench. I wanna set it up for welding and things like that. Any thing I need to look for when buying a press? I feel like they are pretty straightforward but just thought I’d ask.

I used my 2 ton this weekend and it was all I had to press out one sway bar bushings. Definitely get bigger than that lol

Well yeah me too, but the small stuff needed a bigger press.

I have a 20 ton shop press, I want an arbor press for small stuff.

Check with @ktmoutfront a couple 2-3 years back I had a couple of nice ones I sold to him. He might be able to offer some insight into a good one.

Bad ass shop table!

Vevor has a 3 ton that looks reasonably priced. I've only ever used Dake ones at the places I have worked at. Definitely go as big as possible. I've seen used ones for sale a lot of the time for a good price.

Another question- I’ve seen some with just the long round handle and some with a circle wheel on one side and a long round handle on the other side. Another option I’ve seen is ratcheting? More confused on which type to get. The third pic of the black one has both handles and it ratchets.

Ratcheting would be so you can put pressure and hold pressure on an item I believe. The wheel is so you can run it up or down quickly to get to a short or tall item.

Ours at work is like the bottom picture. It ratchets down so you only go down when you pull down and then you have to go back up and down again for more travel. The top two styles the handle will spin round and round to go up or down for the whole travel. I would recommend a ratcheting style with the wheel.
