Hey guys,
I need some opinions. I have an 8 inch suspension lift and a 3 inch body lift.

Will 35s look too small on it? For scale, It currently has 40s.

if you pulled out the body lift, it would look fine..

oh, and I'm really doubting it's an 8" lift.. never heard of such a thing.... i'd bet it's 6" with a 3" bl....

and get rid of the ghetto rims.

i was trying to be nice.. ;) you can imagine how I feel about those rims... :haha: I absolutely love the rig with the black top and orange... but the first thing I think of when I see the rims is donks...

sorry new guy ;) ummmmm, as to measuring the lift... your best bet is find someone here with a stock first gen.. have em measure from the bottom of the frame down to the top of the spring plate, then compare that to yours...

yeah, maybe that was a little harsh, um I'm not a big fan of the big wheel look, its your rig, go with what you like, as I guess you already have.:thumb:

Hey! Maybe I should clarify ;)

I just bought this beauty, and the previous owner put these donks on. That is why I am asking about the 35s :)

So you think 35s will look good if I remove the bl then? Think I will have rub issues if I remove the bl and put on 35s?

I'd say you'd have less of a chance of rubbing then now...

and we know, it's all good..... to each his own, some in here dig the large rim look... Dave and I just happen to be kinda oldschool in our tastes...

whew, I wasn't the first one to say it. :pimp:

luckily, like you said, you already planned on getting rid of them.

as to what it will look like with 35's, check out mine:

I have 6" suspension lift, with a 3" body lift. as you can see, its a touch tall for 35's, but not so bad that it looks stupid (imo ).
if you drop down to a 1" body lift, it should be just about right.

Alright Cameron, welcome aboard, and glad you have a sense of humor. I agree that taking the body lift off, will set your truck just about right for the 35's.

Awesome truck ashman. What did you do about your bumper with that body lift?
well, I did it kinda redneck.
I had some 2" square tubing that I used for a spacer on top of the frame. the top bracket bolts on top of the square tubing, and I drilled a hole in the frame for the bottom bolt. that got the bumper close enough for my purposes.

The 35's will be fine with a 6" lift, probably even ok with a 4". Mine has 6" in back and 4" in front. I just get minor rubbing in the back when im really stuffing the tires, and that only happens in Moab.

Shoot, I'd sell those rims and tires on craigslist and take the money to buy yourself some softer springs and some 35's. I know I probably shouldn't ask but has it been re-geared that you know of?
Judging by the PO's choice of rims I'd guess no. I think you'll be REALLY happy with a setup like scottishdave has. MUCH better ride and your tranny and steering won't hate your guts.

Not sure about the re-gear... how might I find out?

Also, got my 35s on last week ;)

gonna take down the body lift next week...

Block the front tires so it doesn't roll back.
Put the transfercase in neutral.
Jack up one side of the rear axle so it just gets off the ground but keeps the other tire planted firmly.
Now rotate the tire that's up in the air 2 full revolutions and count how many times the driveshaft turns.

This will give you a really good idea of what gears you have.

3.08's the d-shaft will spin 3.08 times
4.10's it'll spin 4.10 times
etc.

Looks 1,000 times better now.

Now just dump the Body lift. IMO you dont even need to replace the body lift with the 1", If it were my truck I would just replace the body mounts and not put any body lift on there. You have plenty of lift to clear those tires.
