I'm thinking of cutting up a set of doors and making some half doors for the summer. Something so I can jump in and out of my truck without opening the door but still retain the mirrors. I can find some doors on Craigslist but not for my exact year, 76z my question is are the doors the same from 76 on up to 91. I know the door panels and vent windows were different but as far as putting them on my 76 hinges and dropping the pins in and having the door latch line up right will any doors work? From pickups to? Thanks

From my experience, no, they aren't. My friend has a 76 K10 he's building, and the original doors were shot, we tried a new pair of doors on it, one from a 81 one ton, and another from a 90 Suburban, both had the same issue of the doors being seemingly too long, the doors would hit the cab before the striker, leaving it about an inch and a half open.

That cab was pretty roached, no rockers or floor, but it was still solid on the frame, so It was possible that it was just that cab being phucked.

The outer door shell is the same for 73-87 trucks and 76-91 Blazer/Jimmy/Suburban.

As you say, the insides vary for the door panels, vent windows, handles, etc, but the basic fit is the same.

I did exactly as you describe, got a pair of late-80's doors, cut them and had half doors for my '74 Blazer. Later I put a pair of early-80's full doors on it, easy peasy.

If you have the doors off, I recommend replacing the hinge pins and bushings. It's a certain amount of work, but makes them swing so much straighter.

LMC shows a different door shell for '73-'76 and '77-'91 models, but I would guess it is for some other reason than one being longer or shorter than the other. If the door shells were dimensionally different it would affect other body parts like rockers, cab corners on pickups, and bedsides that line up with the doors and they only show one part number from '73-'91 ('87) for all those.........not to mention the entire cab.

The inner door area where the panels go on are different on the earlier trucks...different heights, but it doesn't affect the whole door from fitting other years...also the door glass is thicker on early models, perhaps the door is a bit different where the glass tracks go inside ...

76 High sierra panel on a 77+ door.

Aside from door handle being different she will fit, will have to fill some holes to though.
