Are all Chevy people like this?

I get & give a friendly razzing with some friends occasionally...in no way do we get serious about it...

I got them last in December, told them the heated tailgates on ford trucks was a nice touch...they looked puzzled, I told them it was to keep your hands warm when you're pushing it....:pimp:

What's weird is he was worse luck with GM products than anyone I know, He may be biggest GM fan I know, but I don't think GM products are a fan of him, everything he's had has had a pretty sad demise, He just called me to tell me that the 305 he put in his 72 C20 just locked up on him 50 miles from home, but he doesn't want me to use my Dodge to pick him up.

Then let him walk.
It doesn't sound to me like it's GM with a problem. I'm thinking he is just an idiot, that only thinks he know what he's doing.

I've always been a Chevy guy, but growing up in a GM town the Fisher body plant was one of the largest employers in the area, so there was always alot of GM cars/trucks in the area.
If you live in an auto manufactuing plant town I think the probability of being biased may be stronger than not?

I dated a gal for a while who's dad had a nice 34? Ford pickup with a SBC in it, my BIL who was a big Ford guy asked him about it and what it had for an engine....he said "the only way you can make these Fords run good is to put a Chevy engine in them"...I had to chuckle about that one!

Hey for years the best hot rods were Ford bodies with Chevy motors. Or rods with Chevy motor, trans, and a Ford 9" rear. I've had them all growing up in a family business. We had Fords, Dodges, and GM trucks. Ford and GM cars. We treated them all the same and all were religiously maintained. The Dodges were notorious for ignition problems (resistors) and the interiors fell apart on the latter years so my dad quit buying them. The Fords were good until he bought two f600's. One at 28k had the whole rear of the trans just break off and the other blew the 360 @ 56k. Although these were bigger trucks they didn't carry real heavy loads most of the time. They were refer trucks. The Gm pickups he bought tended to drive better for him. He found them more comfortable and as far as reliability no better or worse than anything else. Had a 67 9' bed stepside that had a great 292 that just blew one day for no reason and the old 292's were usually pretty good motors.

I personally have driven diesel dually for most of my years both for my pleasure business (rodeo cattle and horses) and work (hauling packaging machinery). I had Fords, GM's, and one Dodge. I prefer the GM's over the rest most of the time and depends on the years of manufacture. I did love my Cummins but after two trans and one rear at 120k I had to stop the bleeding. My old school 7.3's were great engines but I hated the driveability of those years as the straight front axles 4x4 in a dually to me suck for everyday driving. I tried the first year Duramax and loved the truck but had the typical injector issues covered under warranty. I went to buy new before 100k and tried a Ford and Dodge again. Didn't like the ride and the huge feel of the truck, again as it was a everyday driver, either work or play. Bought a 03' Duramax CC and had no issues at all, including injectors with 187k on it. Bought a 05' because of 0% financing. Not as good as truck as my 03' by far but it was good until blowing my turbo @168k in Wisconsin. Not a fun trip. Now have a 08' Duramax CC. I still like the ride and the look over the other brands and some of the issue I don't like about the other brands my friends still have. Screw what someone else thinks of what you like. If it makes you happy and you can live with it's shortcomings then go for it. It's like a relationship with another person. It's not what you like about that person. It's how many things you don't like, the person has the least of them, and if you can live with those things. Of course, she has to be hot looking too!:D

As far as the actual vehicles, I probably would prefer a GM product, what I don't like is that the owners can't live happily without trying to figure out what is wrong with anyone who doesn't own one, whether they rub it in their face or not, the Ford and Dodge guys don't seem to care what anybody else thinks, but not the GM guys, they have to make sure that everybody knows that the love their GM products and that if you own anything but all GM, your an idiot.

Their all good when their running... And their junk when their broke.

I liked Chevys because they were cheap to fix....Most all small block parts were the same no matter what CID and half the price of the rest.....Now Fords, you had three different 351s and nothing much switched over.

Dodge and Plymouth always had the bests looking body....And GM a close second.....Ford a distant fourth.

Of course I'm going back quite a few decades....Now a days, every thing looks about the same to me.

Just wanted to add something my nephew said to me this past Sunday on the way to the Marlboro Gun Show. He is the owner of a Dodge Cummings pickup. He said to me, "the definition of a Dodge/Cummings is: the stinkiest, foulest, slimiest pile of dog $hit with a diamond in the middle!"

I'm very against brand wars. Its more than a pet peeve, I hate it actually.

But for Christsake, there is no "G" in Cummins.

I haven't been on CK5 but just a short time now but it's not that hard to see that 90% of the thread topics are either; "How do I fix it?" or "How do I make it better?" I'm sure the same can me said for any other auto forum.

I can't say that I've ever heard anyone say "I've put 500,000 miles on my ____ and all I've ever done was change the oil and the spark plugs and I've been ridin these vagina skin tires for 10 years but they just won't wear out. Trust me I've tried."

I think the PBR tour came here more than once...

...and there are lots of horses around here--just down the street from me a local millionaire who owns a former dog track ,has at least 50 horses in a huge stable,on a 100 acre plot....another guy about half a mile from him has at least a dozen more...in towns nearby there are still lots of horse farms too..they have horse shows not far from my house quite often...

MA has a lot more agriculture and farms still, than most people realize...used to be a LOT more though..most of the old farms are gone now--subdivided and sold off,to build yuppie castles and condos..

Don't you need cowboys to have rodeos?

Martin

I used to be a member of the IPRA, PRCA, and the USTRC. MA does in deed have rodeos and the IPRA Eastern finals are held in a Shriners Auditorium in Wilmington MA every year. I sometimes supplied Corriente and Long horn cross cattle for both organizations throughout New England years ago but no longer do it. I sold horses exclusively from the Charlie Daniels Ranch in TN in this area also. I had everything from own daughters of Doc Tari and Docs Prescription and sons of Royal Royale and Peppy San Bagder. Rope horses, cutting horses, and just good solid ranch horses. I've worked some working ranches in New Mexico, TX, Argentina, and TN too.

So to answer your question. Yes we have rodeos and there are some people who know about rodeos, good horses, cattle and can "cowboy" a little in MA. Actually might join the USTRC again as I just bought my daughter a new head horse and I might start roping with her again.
