Are Chevy engines right or left hand rotatin?

I believe it's Left because it turns counter clockwise when looking at the flywheel.

I think it's right, cause it turns clockwise looking at the fan!

:haha:

So it's right or left based on the flywheel side?

Who's on first anyway?:D

I cannot remember if the Harmonic balancer bolt is reverse thread or not. If the bolt is normal thread then the rotation is counter clockwise. This rotation prevents the balancer bolt from loosening due to engine rotation. If it helps the distributor rotates clockwise:dunno: .

Sorry I am not much more help.

When your facing the motor, and you turn the motor over, you spin it to your right, so it would be counter clockwise I believe

s'plain please? topside? that just doesn't make sense.

rotation is always dialed from an end. just like shaft rotation of a hydraulic pump or motor. rotation is veiwed from the shaft end. never top or bottom.

He is saying the top of the crank. The botom of the crank rotates to the passenger side:rolleyes: .

.........exactly why common mechanical practice marks shaft rotations from an end

which is what I said before. CW & CCW are designations that can never be used when looking at the side of a shaft

ARAMP1 look at your fan. If you have v-belt it will turn the same rotation the fan would to pull air through the radiator. If it is serpintine it will spin the opposite direction due to the belt routing. That is the only way I can figure it out.

Crank pully is CW..........flywheel is CCW. That is standard engine rotation.
like I told ya before. I'm not guessing, thats how standard vehicle engines spin.

Are you sure cause I thought things spun backwards in Canada:thinking: .

J/K I did not understand that in your previous post.

.........only the toilet water :haha:

but I believe the CIA has an anit-water rotational device that Americans can rent when travelling through Canada...........to feel more at home :D
