Are my shackles supposed to look like this?

Photos of my front shackles. Noticed by the guy welding my mufflers on today. This may be the cause of my weird wandering steering. Before I order new ones, I'm just making sure that the shackles are not supposed to be bowed like this:

The shackles should not look like that. They should be straight. You can make your own with a cutoff wheel and a drill press by using some 3/8"X2" flat bar.

You can make them any length you need but would recommend no more than 4.25 with the factory upper mount location to minimize the effect on your suspension geometry.

Nope, they are done for. Time for a call to DIY or one of the other vendors with heavy duty spring shackles. I'd replace the spring bushings at the same time - they look pretty rotten. Also may want to consider replacing the body bushings as well - might help ride quality some.

Exahust looks beefy!

man dont buy some. go out and get some 3/8" x 2" flat strap and make your own. will take you about 30 minutes to do all four. and will run you about 20$

I hear you. Unfortunately, it would take more than an hour drive-time to the nearest place to buy steel, then all the time for me to cut them, drill them and clean them up.

Just not worth it, when I can buy the part perfectly made and delivered to my door.

And they're already on their way. This should clean up a bunch of my weird steering issues, I'd think.

Be sure to check that your steering box is tight to the frame and you have no frame cracks.

My original shackels did that...
