Are peanut port heads any good? The # is 14092360...86-90...oval...OPEN...454 Truck, "peanut" round ports.
this will be on a daily driver K15 with 373 gears and a auto tranny with 35" tires.

I think a daily driver would be their best application....small ports/high velocity=more torque, with those tires and gears you could use them effectively I think.....my .02

They are good truck/towing heads. As said they build very good low end power. If you are just running a stock or mild BBC they will be fine for making good power up to around 4500 RPM. After that they are all done.
If you are looking for more HP and higher RPMs go with the large oval 781 heads.

or will this be better? 346236.....75-87...oval...OPEN...454, 120cc chamber, 225/116cc ports
I could get either set for cheap.

Peanut ports will work good on a DD geared the way yours will be. A buddy of mine runs them on his K30 with a Weiand Street Warrior and it works well.

no they are not !

Thanks for all your interest out there, here are the numbers, dyno tested on a superflow 901, 300 RPM per second, 475 CID, 9.2 compression, Isky 280 mega cam, hyd flat tappet, ported 236 heads, 2.125 Int, 1.880 Exhaust, performer RPM intake quick fuel ss 830. 501.6 HP @ 5100, Peak 541.4 HP @ 5400 RPM, 532.3 HP @ 5700 RPM. Torque: 575.2 @ 3800 RPM, peak 583.3 @ 4000 RPM, 526 @ 5400 RPM. Harold Bettes will be submitting a full report on this project, covering the the engine build, and also the calibrations on the conservative 901 dyno. Sorry I didnt have more time to test different intakes, I feel the results were ok, and I dont think Iam setting the world on fire with this one, its just ok. Thanks Mark

Having not been satisfied with my first peanut port dyno test, 475 541 HP 582 TQ, a customer was nice enough to give me a second chance at this combination. 469 CID 9.6 comp, Isky 280 mega cam on a 112, ported 236 peanut port heads, RPM air gap intake, 850 holley, 1 inch 4 hole spacer, GM LS6 stamped rockers, moroso pan 5.5 quarts of 30w oil.

I read all the above articles when I was building my low budget 454 for my k30. It makes great power and I picked a tiny cam. Mine is done at 4000 but it may very well be the cam. I have flowed a few big ovals (including my new brodix RR ovals) but not a peanut port yet. Mine makes approx 336hp and 500ft/lb flywheel from the chassis dyno numbers. I really want to build a 496 with a big valve set. Mine is a stock long block with a 7.8 to 1 compression, 204/214 speedpro cam, Wieand Street Warrior, and headers and a ls6 vette oil pan/pump. Super Happy with mine.
