Are rubber inner fender thingys necessary??

Apparently mine got yanked off going down the highway. I guess enuff wind gets in there and yanks them off along with the cheesy plastic pushing pins that hold em on. I found one wrapped around brake line and the other only god knows where it is. So are they necessary? worth replacing?
 
If you like to go mudding you will probably want them, I don't have them and my underhood is always caked full of mud. My bud has them and his engine compartment is always pretty clean
 
I prefer to have them in place as they will keep the engine bay cleaner. Hit your local home improvement store for rubber sheet or truck stop for big mud flaps to cut into replacements.
 
KennyW was selling some conveyor belt material a while back that would work good for inner fenders...

I picked some up from him, but still haven't used it...
