I bought some swampers (TSL not radials) for the first time for my truck. On the road this morning after having it parked for a few days, I experienced a bump bump bump coming from one of the tires. It seemed to get a little better with time, but not much. I checked everything when I got home and the truck seems fine. Are these tires just not very round or something?

Welcome to the wonderful world of Interco tires... they'll round out after a couple miles (depending on the temperature)... but yeah that's normal.

that sir is called old school bias ply tire flat spoting.

drive them for a bit each day and basicly no problems.

let them sit a few days or weeks and it takes much longer to warm up and ride nice.

Thank you guys. My military truck tires do the same thing. I figured a civy tire shouldn't do that. I love them off road though!

Yup i have a set of bias ply Dick Cepeks. They're about 19 yrs old. :eek1:

They're really gonna have flat spots on em when i get my Blazer going :doah:

Or as I call it, morning sickness. The first time I experienced morning sickness was after I bought a set of 33" Gumbo Mudders on white spoke rims off a guy at work. I put them on in the middle of the afternoon, and come morning, I was scared sh%tless I screwed up my truck.

When you first start the truck move it a few feet so the bottom of the tire is no longer on the bottom. Let it sit for a few minutes then go on your way.

I used to do this with my bias plies. 90% of the time I had FAR less bumpiness after doing this.

Try driving a set of 37" Iroks at -40c...They feel like you're driving square tires...lol

Yeah... winter runs with bias tires is always fun in the morning. Then add on all the snow/ice that has molded itself to the rim... can make it feel like the truck is bouncing off the road!
