Are the '89-'91 K5 rear springs too soft?

For use on the fronts of K5's with Kerts brackets, etc.?

What about DRW axles and 15" wheels? How much backspacing is needed to clear the calipers without grinding?

What applications are the 63" rear springs from? How soft are those if used along with the springs mentioned above?

Personally, I like the rear springs from a 2wd 1/2 ton pickup. I'd bet they are very comparable to the blazer springs though. In the end, with a used spring, it depends more on the usage the spring has seen. You can get the from a 1 ton pickup and find them to be shot already.

I've never tried 15" wheels on a DRW axle so I don't know for sure on that one. Are we talking about a rear axle? or both?

I believe the 63/64's started showing up in 1988 in pickups. With that body style change.

They are very soft but again, depends on the actual spring, original application and usage its seen.

Well, looks like I answered my own question about the 15" wheel and backspacing on a DRW D60 front.

I had this brand new Weld Super Single II wheel for years, measuring 15 x 14 with 6.5" backspacing. Thing is, I only have one. I would really like to find 3 more even though they're discontinued and Weld evidently made some wheels like this one, there has to be some more out there in the world somewhere.

So as the pictures show, it appears exactly 6.5" is required to clear the calipers without grinding, etc. and being that this rim is aluminum and thicker than steel, there is 1/8" gap between the caliper and bead lip. No rubbing at all.

This is the setup I'd like to run for a mud runner / play toy of a '74 K5 frame and an S-10 body on it. I don't mind if the tires protrude past the body.

What's different between the 89-91 springs and the earlier ones?

Most of them I've seen and heard had 3 leaves plus the overload.
