when gutting the 73 I have a large piece under the truck but I don’t think it’s the rocker panel.
Did they add another piece for extra support on these years?
If so what is it called and her could a replacement be found it’s rusted the most of all my rust issues?
I added a photo it’s under the truck pretty wide and right below the first picture which I assume is the rocker panel that isn’t really rusted
Thanks

They are called Rocker Boxes. Only came on the full convertible 73-75's. About the only thing that can be done is pull them from another truck or have somebody use yours as a pattern to reproduce them.

Or torsion boxes. Functions but a etrailer design for offroad. I'm working on a tubular version to tie into the roll bar/cage sandwich the bed floor and incorporate the front cab mount. I haven't started yet but my boxes are non existing and climbing around putting my soft top back on the passenger door won't shut right again :doah:

On a resto, I'd rebuild. On an off roader I'd weld in square or rec tube in place of the rockers and run braces back under the floor and completely ditch them

Mine were completely shot in the middle.

I used square tubing to rebuild and tie front and rear sections together.

I made stainless covers, haven’t put them on.

Do you have any pictures and info of what you did or does anybody else have some info?
Thanks

Looks awesome why close them they won’t collect water ect and rust Gain open as they are.
Do you by chance still have the build diagram for this?
Did you build then tack in or what was the process?
Just ordered a welder so this will be one of the first projects

No I don’t have a diagram. I did have some pics of them on the garage floor but don’t know what happened to them.

I just followed the original contour and built as I went.
Clamped the basic frame work in position and added sections as I went to duplicate the original as best I could and I was satisfied.
Tacked together then unclamped, removed from the vehicle and welded. Did that several times several times.

Once I had the blazer squared up I welded them in to the front and rear original pieces that remained.
They also attach to the floor.

I used 1/16 3/4 square tubing. If I was going in wheel it hard I would have gone heavier and incorporated sliders.

They are functional but could make improvements.
I made them so they would look as much like original if I did cover them.

I was going to make the covers bolt on so I could remove for cleaning.

I want to incorporate into them spring loaded fold down steps or slide in steps into a channel so they could be removed when I chose.
