We saw 2 GMC pick ups at Cruisin the Coast with trim level emblems on the rear of the bedside, are these factory? I’ve never seen these before.

I think those are from the mid 80's square body truck. I've never seen one on a first gen.

John there was another GMC truck at the Square festival in Long Beach that had a little different looking Sierra Grande emblem on the rear bed panel - did you happen to get a pic of that ?

No, I should have but for some reason I didn't. Seems like the second truck was a different trim level, I think it was just a "Sierra".

Sierra grande was a trim level on that generation of trucks.

But what about the actual emblem and it's placement towards the back by the taillight? I know "Sierra Grande" the trim level is legit but I've never seen that font or an emblem on the rear of the bedside. We saw 2 GMC's in different cities with different trim level emblems but they had the same font and placement. I've never seen these on a Chevrolet of the same era.

Those are not squarebody emblems. that I am sure of. I don't know enough about that generation to say for sure, but they look to be aftermarket to me for that generation.

legit

I posted a couple pics of a truck with the same trim level a couple days ago.

I always posted this on the 67-72trucks forum and a guy said they were a 1 or 2 year (71-72) only on GMC's.

Placement I’ve always seen of those was on the bedsides.

This is semi-cool 67~72 trivia info; John and I stood there look’n at the truck for ten minutes talk’n about if they were correct or not.
They looked damn good !

P.S. John I think you are right about the other GMC only having a Sierra emblem on the rear bedsides.
