These spindle nut lock washers are pretty mangled up. I don't know what the previous guy did to them, but the "teeth" don't line up at all with the spots on the nut. Can I still buy these? If so, where?

Sure can... just saw them being advertised on a wrenching show. Don't remember the name though. Search google.

***Edit, I found them listed under "axle lock washer" on Napa's site. I will check with the local store tomorrow. Thanks guys

napa or a bumper to bumper. I work at an oreillys and we cannot get them. last time I checked they were on factory back order so I ended up getting mine from a bumper to bumper down the road.

Stage 8 makes an improved aftermarket version that won't loosen . 56.95 at Summit .......... 129.95 at Scout parts

Why do these things come loose? I just tightened mine last month to the torque value that my Chilton's book said because the driver's side nut was about to fall off, and I think it's come loose again because I can hear it making the same clicking sound it was before.

To the guys who are running the aftermarket parts: have you had a problem with the nuts going loose after you installed the new washer thing?

Fwiw, the old nutwasher looks good to me. The washers usually look like hell because they get bent putting them on and taking them off. The spindle tab is ok so I would think something else is the reason for them backing off.

to other options people.

newer 14ff use a thinker nut and a square stock key and lock snap ring. these can be swaped on like it was there from factory. just go junk yard hunting.

also the dana 60 and 14ff use the same spindle size / threads so you can swap on a set of dana 60 nuts and lock washer. these can be had at the junk piles or new cheeply.

also the benifit to this one is 1 socket for both axles if you are running a 60 front. :wink1:

Forgot to add that I like this type of nut setup better than the double nut because this single nut shown above is around 1/2" to 5/8" thick.
