I am on the fence as to why this thing is worth it...Ive never used one but have heard people swear by it.

looks quality and would solve the reverse issue in a panic or time to pray moment..

so yes or no? would you shell out the 250.00? currently have 2 b&m mega shifters and a b&m quick silver in my parts buckets

??

also cant make up my darn mind on a winch:crazy::doah:

just looking for input on these items for the buggy

No offense to the B&M owners, but they don't hold a candle to the A.C.....

Love mine to death...

Being from S. Cal., I've learned that the A.C. shifter is awesome because it's designed to handle the Baja 1000. It's a bomb-proof shifter, period. And basically stupid-proof too.

As far as winch goes; Warn all the way.

I got mine when there was an AC had a sale on their shifters. I think I paid 199 for mine directly from AC.

I went from a B&M mega shifter to a Art Car and would never go back. Its not that the B&M was a bad shifter but if you have ever tried to shift rapidly with it or go from drive to reverse say like you were stuck in the mud it sucked or when you need to shift fast to keep from rolling:D. The AC is a gated shifter that makes it a lot easier and keeps you from putting it in the wrong gear when you are trying to shift rapidly. It does take a little time to get used to but once you do you will love it. I also got mine when they were on sale but I would still pay full price for one.

Art carr all the way. Having a reverse pattern is better for the trans in off road applications also.

I got mine used off Pirate for $150. Try ebay and looking around for one used first.
Was going to get one new, just happened to stumble apon mine. Awesome shifter.

Use the Art Carr and sell the B&M's. I have a B&M in my truck now and like it but I would have an Art Carr if I could afford it. :D Ask Juan about his Art Carr shifter.

Winch = Warn 9500

If you are going to pay for a winch you might as well get the best all around winch on the market. The Warn 9500 is fast and it pulls like a beast. It will be worth every penny when you need it, and trust me you will. I had to use my Warn 12K to drag my busted arse out of TM 2 weeks ago with a busted transmission case. Thankfully Matt's truck is burly and my Warn 12K pulls HARD.

I have the Art Carr too. Definately like it better than a friends B and M. I got mine on ebay for like $80 for my th400

Reverse manual Valve body tranny with a Art Carr shifter. Nothing better!

Get a warn winch. I suggest one that does not have the intergrated soleniod pack. I remote mounted my soleniods and love the small packaging of having just the winch in front.

Yeah, it saved our butts on Cactus. :yikes: :haha: Really nice when you can throw it in reverse real quick as the front of the rig tries to go way too far past vertical. :haha: That's when I was sold on the Art Carr.

I've read where some guys have cut the gates out so they can make a straight pull from 1st to R.

do a search on pirate for dan dibbles custom gate pattern

With the reverse pattern 1st and reverse are only seperated by Neutral.

I filed my gates down to where I still have positive stops in 1st, N, and reverse but it is a easy almost straight shot to switch gears from 1st to reverse.

thanks guys!:thumb:

ill be ordering one on monday:D

as for the winch i think ill order the 9500 as mentioned as well, seems to be a popular choice all over the net

you guys using these aftermarket shifters, anyone have any pics of how they have theirs mounted? Ive looked into a manual valve body, but cant figure out how I would mount the shifter so I could easily reach it.

Search some of ColoradoK5's old posts. He has a good pic of how his Art Carr was mounted in the UAV. I plan to do it in a similar manner.

who makes the shifter that comes straight out the floor that has like a old school manual truck look...gmc4cw has one and it has never let him down...

edit-its the locar shifter
