Decided to try and install the new spicer 5-760x joints in the spare shafts tonight. What a ****in nightmare. The snap rings went in on one side but did not fit right on the other. This was a prob on both the stub and the inner. One snap ring went on ok the next would not seat on the top. I ended up crapping up one of the snap rings just from tapping on it with a screw driver. Yes the caps were all the way in. Ask my 50lb vise and three foot breaker bar. The pressure snapped the shaft of my vise right in half. So now i have a JKW cap that wont go in, a broken vise and a set of spare shafts with new u-joints that i cant get all the snap rings on. Should i just run a bead around the caps?

Have you considered 'smoothing' the inner side of the axleshaft?

For that matter, if you do that, and since you're in need of new snap rings, you might as well modify the axleshafts for full-circle snap rings...

You mean just grind out the area? Also, where can i get full circle clips or even replacements?
