Well it has been almost 5 month since I bought my k5 and have had ZERO luck finding a tailgate. No one sells one or if they do it is crap. I have no where else to turn so I was hoping that you guys could help me out. I tried checking the for sale ads here and nothing here. Tried ebay with no luck what so ever. I tried arichners who has a ton of parts at the junkyard. Nothing at all. Tried a few places around me with no luck. So I am not sure where to go now. Please help me

Well, wish you were closer. I have a complete tailgate from my '77 parts truck with back glass just sitting in my back yard. They are out there but they are getting harder to find. I know some people on CK5 have ditched their tailgates for pickup tailgates since they weren't going to run the hard top anymore. Maybe try posting in the classifieds as a WTB. You might have to pony up for a subscription though before you can post in there, not sure.
 
Well I tried every option in the book from craigslist to ebay to forum. Still no luck what so ever.
 
Do you want to pay for shipping? I think it would cost more than the tailgate itself. There's a member here (mrschaeferpants I belive) that has one for sale on the local CL.

I'm not trying to sell if for him because I don't know if he wants to ship it, I'm just saying that they're out there if you cast a large enough net.
 
Yeah that might be something I might just have to do is pay for shipping. I will contact the guy and see what he tell me.

it's not a u-pull, they go out and get it for you. worth a call to see if they have anything. they tend to be a little $$ but their parts are usually in better shape because they're not beat up by people hacking on stuff.

i've been in their lot before. it's hit or miss what they have.

also hit or miss but the last time i was there they did seem to have a lot of truck stuff. i was able to find a manual steering column for an s10 in about 20 minutes. and they only charged me $25.

i doubt you're going to find anything used around here that's worth buying. they all rust out from the salt/ weather and crack in the same places.

i have a tailgate from lmc waiting to go on my blazer. it looks like it's well made. i just checked their site, $200 for the tailgate and $125 for shipping. i'm right across the river from you so shipping should be about the same. at least it gives you a starting point to haggle w/ tilghmans if they have something.
 
I keep seeing an NOS GM tailgate still in the box pop up on the Boston c-list. Not on there all the time, just pops up every couple weeks.

Well I used the search feature the forum has and did not come up with anything. So if it did not find it then that is why!
 
Advice in this thread is OK...blatant selling of parts isn't. If you have something to sell, post it in the correct forum.
