asking for a friend. where he lives found a ats turbo for 450. complete. just needs exhaust. thats it, turbo was rebuilt last year. came off a running and driving truck. what he is being told is that banks are a better set up. less lag time.. i have never had a ATS turbo..

what do you guys think of it? i thought for 450 hes doing pretty good. my banks was way more. thanks guys

Well, I have no experience with GM diesels, but my opinion is that generally Banks products are driven by a lot of hype, mainly due to their aggressive advertisement agenda. Generally their products, when tested against other brands products, fall pretty short.

ATS on the other hand is known for building good stuff. Their rebuilt high HP automatics and twin turbo systems are some of the best in the business.

I wouldn't hesitate with the ATS turbo, especially if you think it's a good deal.

i think 450 is a great deal. i paid way more for my banks. never again. ill probably sell it. thanks

I got a complete ATS set-up here...got it for $300 but the turbo needs to be rebuilt. I'd say $450 was fair to good IMO.

Found a vid showing an ATS set-up. You'll have to pause it to study it a bit though...

thanks guys. this turbo he is looking at is not a ats then. that goes right on the intake. the pics i saw of it, it has a manifold. if i had the pic i would put them up.

So which is the better Turbo setup???

I like the crossover pipe on the GM setup better than the banks due to possible interference with crossover and high steering.

I like that the Banks and probably the ATS setups exhaust pipe will fit inside the frame rails without cutting up the frame.

I have found a truck for sale locally with the ATS setup that has supposedly a rebuilt engine and tranny along with 1 tons:dunno: for a good negotiable price.

I'm really getting tired of parting trucks so I'd probably just swap the parts to keep it running and just resale it but if it ain't selling with a turbo then it probably won't sell without one either which brings up the point as to why it hasn't sold??

I have highsteer and crossover on my banks with no issues....course the 56 inch front springs prob help out a bunch :D
