For those that have a 5.0 to 7.4l Vortec with the plastic distributor. Like me you prob. hate it and it breaks the tabs off when removing the cap. that and they are bad about eating the gear. The only other alternative is to buy a 300 dollar Accel dizzy. Well I'm cheap and done some searching for a cheaper alternative. Found this link.

There are a few that have purchased one and liked it. So I decided to get one myself. been in there for about 2 weeks now. What a difference. Got rid of the off idle stumble. So far I'm happy with it. Came with a new cap, with brass contacts, new rotor, and new cam sensor. Not bad for 100 bucks. Will buy another one for my other project.

Here is the link to the ebay seller. http://myworld.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ignition_dk/

I still need to find someone with a scanner to set the cam and crank signal sync. Will post back here if any problems arise with the new dizzy. Hope this helps some.

When I did the motor in my wife's Burb I had to use the old motors dist. wondered what you did when they broke seemed like a POS to me.

Keep up up to date on how this works might need it one day soon.

Just a heads up... We are working on an aluminum distributor as well for the replacement of the plastic Vortec distributor. I have a prototype in my dad's 98 as we speak with sucess so far.

Just something to keep in mind.

Little update. Went to visit a friend yesterday. Was 200 miles round trip. truck ran perfect. So far so good. Looks like this dizzy may just be worth the money.

I put one in my 97 after I kept burning up the rotor, ran it for 2 years before I traded it in...I was happy with it.
