ATTN: All Blazer Bash Atendies...

I'm with you Chris trying to sell stuff to afford the gas to get there.

Now that I have the Duramax my fuel bill should be cut in half. I should save almost $500.00 in fuel this year.
I'm hoping to get 13-15 on the journey. I'll tow 55 in California and 65 once I get to Nevada.

Chris

I find that 55mph in Cali sucks fuel, it's too slow and the engine is not in it's peak rpm range. 65 might be too slow as well, work on it a bit to figure out where the truck feels like it is running easy.

In my truck it's 72mph, faster and mileage goes down, slower it goes down. I get 11 +/- depending on wind etc. Done the Cali to Colorado trip a few times a year for 5 years now and I once got 14 mpg leaving Cali with a 30mph tail wind. Never seen that high towing anything.

I know you have an LB7 so you might pull 13 but with a full body blazer I would doubt it. 2wd or 4wd. If 2wd you might be right.

As far as the speed in California goes, I don't really have much choice. If I get a ticket I can lose my job. I drive tow trucks and our insurance company isn't understanding about speeding. Also with the 5 speed Allison my rpm is 300 higher than the 6 speed. That may change it a little. And yes 2wd.

That's where my old Powerstroke is happy too. Can pull the hills without dropping out of overdrive usually, and still salvage some milage. Any faster and it starts dropping off fast. Usually get around 11, give or take with the wind.
