Attn Cummins Swap people

Not sure of the cost other than finding a wrecked ram diesel($5-6000??) and swapping out the driveline, intercooler, fuel system etc, but I'm pretty sure a blazer or 1/2 ton frame will not handle the increased weight of a cummins. The 1 tons will for sure... just thinking out loud.

I can attest to that.
I had a 5.9 TD perkins in my 76 K5 and it only lasted about 5 years before I had 6 major cracks in the frame.
First one was the steering box area 1 year into the use and I thought oh that is common in these trucks then I had the cross member crack and seperate from the frame, lost 2 rivets and 2 were wollowed out, then I cracked the main frame where the mounts are.
I still have the engine and now have a 1 ton frame I want to put it in.

You can do it for around $8000.00 if you do your own labor and watch where and when you buy the parts .

I had nearly 12,000 in my swap but I did use alot of Aftermarket performance parts and I needed to rebuild my short block and I also swapped in a Ford Hi-Pinion Dana 60 along with crossover

Please tell me more on the perkins. Thinking about this on a 95 k2500

What can I tell you?
It's probably harder to find them than it is to find a cummins, I happened to have bought a truck with it in already, it had a 465/203 behind it with what looked like a bellhousing that was made for it, I have yet to unbolt the bellhousing to see the pattern on it Probably SAE#2
The one I have is a 67 vintage, they were offered in AGRI and MARINE form, mine was from a Farm tractor.
Their stock power numbers are 170 HP 410 LB.
It's 6 cyl inline with Turbo.
It's all mechanical, no wires except the starter and the alternator.

nothing to do with cummins.......but I just picked up a '90 VW Jetta diesel 160K on the clock for cheap. to swap into a LWB Samuari :waytogo:

I would like to get one of those to replace my gas engine in the Jetta.
