the seperater was a little loose .mabey air in line?

I loosened a injecter line and just a couple drops come out when cranking is this right?

sounds like you got an airleak in a fuel line, or a plugged fuel filter.

Plugged fuel filter, bad lift pump, air in the lines is usually it. The Diesel links are great sources for info:D

Thank you k204dr.

Sorry!? I didn't know I was going to be graded on spelling.

Yeah well...it's a text based medium. If your spelling and stuff sucks so bad we can't firgure out what you're asking, then you're not likely to get the answers you'd hoped for.

Sounds like a bad lift pump or air in the system. I once lost a lift pump while going 50 on a road, it revved up and down, then just died.

The injection pump only pumps a small amount of fuel through the injectors when all is right. At cranking speed, each cylinder gets approx. 1/100th of a teaspoon of diesel injected.
The injection pump is also self-priming as long as there are no air-holes in the fuel line between it and the fuel tank. It has its own fuel pump built into the back of it. With older GM trucks, it's very common to get a air leak back by the fuel tank from a bad hose or rusty line.
But - also keep in mind that all the injection pumps had a problem until 1985. They would fail like clockwork because of a piece of plastic inside the pump that would fall apart. When it fails, the engine will lose power and then die - like it's running out of fuel. Then once it sits for a minute, will start right up again. Any pump being repaired - since 1985 was supposed to be updated. Older pre-1985 pumps that have been updated are supposed to get a metal tag attached to them on top of the pump.
