I welcome you to follow me or a few of the GM owners on this board that I wheel with & see how the body looks after a ride or two. ;)

Hehehe, reminds me of Jeff Foxworthy saying " That beaver didn`t just bite his nipple, it got bit clean off, O-F-F BIT IT OFF. That`s a new kind of hurt right there." :haha:

Theres just not too many places up here where you can dent up your rig doing something hard. When people crawl up fire trails and put massive dents all over their truck or break their door off ;) while doing a hill i could do in 2wd i'm just plain not impress and miss the point of denting up a clean body.

I'll take you up on that... when i get my fuel injection programmed.

You're in Cali and there aren't places to dent your rig? My door was fubared on a legit trail that was almost impassable without a winch given the conditions. If you want to run fire roads and combed gravel I can see you living without dents. But anything harder, and **** happens man.

Ever broken parts on your rig? Wasn't intentional was it?

!@$# Happens I say. I planned on keeping my metal straight but first trail ride tore bumper end up. Another trip rear quarter drove in, another trip opposite quarter drove up, hanging on rockers all the time, bumpers hooking in and bending all the time, mirrors stiking misc stuff and buckling door.... It just happens. I wanted it too look nice but oh well, I should of left it where it was to do this. By the way mikey I love the broke the door OFF. Should be in your signature.

BTW, I'm not exactly proud of the fact that my door was sitting in the back of my tow rig on the way home. The rest of the day was cold and wet, and now if I want a replacement that'll actually fit I'll have to shell out some decent money for tube work or a new door. Trail damage isn't something I try to do, it just happens when you're gettin' it.

And after that trail, I still had a rig to drive home…for 135 miles…after rolling it. ;) I "ain't got no trailer queen" that cannot be driven on the street. And I'm definitely not selling out & turning my pile into a buggy. :pimp1:

Everytime I go out I think "sh*t I'd better not break, I've got a LONG drive home" Rolling it would be fun, just have to bring a saw with me to cut the roof off on the way back. :D

Well, if that story is true then you should stop wheelin' with guys in stock Ford Explorers who don't know how to drive.........

im just now getting into wheelin and building rigs, but when i was a kid, and we would get through builing a car, right after the paint dried we would go put its first dent or scratch on it, just because its going to happen one day, so why not get the first one over with???? these were all dd cars, so we wernt worried that much about it...

everytime i hear bushes on my nice clean paint i cringe! ive probably got the cleanest k5 ive seen in person, no rust, no dents, no scratches... i wouldnt sacrifice a rust free, straight bodied rig... i will buy a beater pickup or k5 later and beat on that... but these vehicles, especially the earlier models, are becoming almost a rarity in nice condition. i get a lot of pride in showing off my rig to anyone including wheelers and show truck lovers. its really the best of both worlds.

oh here we go.. :doah:

yes and no...

I loved it then,

and I love it now

I was just in to much of a hurry to cut it up, I say it was about a month before it was getting hacked :doah:

ill beat and dent the hell out of it if is a smog vehicle like my 1979. But my 1974 stays out of the tank trap!!!!! Its definately an issue in cali.

Haha i expected this... as a matter of fact i've broken a crankshaft and have been prettly lucky on my 35's sitting on 10b's. Beleive me... when i say i wheel hard i don't mean i haul ass on combed gravel(i hope your kidding) i mean i've been to the top of hills looking out my driver door window at the bottom of the hill with my foot on the floor and all four spinning like crazy while i scoot up at about 1/2 mile per hour gaining just enough traction to get over the top, dragging weaker rigs through goup, running up hills into trees where theres no where to go or turn around except the "woods"(popped a steering hose from cranking on it so much). I've had branches and trees leaning on my rig but i'd rather clear by an inch using controled throttle and heads up instead of putting it to the floor and bouncing of a tree because it's fun. Most of the hills and trails i've done alot of you would stare at for a good 5 or 10 minutes before hitting it to figure out how to keep it on four wheels. I just stay off the "jeep" trails where a chainsaw would make it almost feasible in 2wd. I find more than enough fullsize trails to challenge my rig...I'm sure you guys already have the picture in your head about me running over a bump and getting out to check the flex... but I don't have a digital camera to show you what i mean.

I know body damage is not intentional but usually it can be avoided without taking the "easy" route.

I have seen alot of rigs get body damage and usually its the drivers foot that creates the dents... not the trails.

For example... about half the rigs in ttc have little or no dents...

Not to nitpick your arguments. But the trail I crushed my door on couldn't have been made with controlled throttle, I didn't even make it with balls out throttle. A lesser built rig (it was a Jeep Comanche so the sheer body size wasn't an issue) messed up the back of his cab and entire bed side and he was driving cautiously and had to be winched up most of it. The trail wasn't small, just very difficult. Around here, trees ARE obstacles, forcing you to take different lines.

You make a very valid point. It was my right foot that caused the truck to go sideways but if it wasn't for my right foot there would have been no point in attempting that particular trail in the first place. I'd have gotten 5 feet in and had to winch myself the rest of the way. That terrain was all about wheel speed.

A lot of the rigs in TTC are set up with little or no body in the first place, and even then, take a look at 'em after the week is done.

you beat me... while you posted that I was editing...

There are those few hills or trails where body damage is almost required to get up it.
