Hey all, i've been an IFS guy for a while, so bear with me on this SFA stuff.

I have auto hubs on a 10 bolt under my burb. 3/4 ton. Yes, i know they suck, and i should replace them. But its a low budget project, and i have no need as long as they work for basic 4x4.

Are the cap parts supposed to be kinda loose? LIke i can grab them and move them around......but all the bolts on the cap are snug.

Is this normal? If not, how do i fix it? I'm getting ready for a LOT of towing in the next 2 weeks, don't want to lose front bearings or something.

Is there a good writeup of front auto hub tech somewhere so i can learn more about how they work?

THanks guys!

Cap can have some play , its screwed into the inner which is only kept in by a clip .

It should never turn by hand , that would indicate stripped locking hub .

There is some play, can't turn by hand. Thanks for the quick response!
