I’m swapping my 89 Jimmy from a 700r4 to a Sm465. My biggest hurdle has been the clutch pedal. I was able to get the whole pedal hanger assembly and all the related parts for a mechanical clutch. I’m having trouble trying to figure out the assembly of the rods, springs and geometry of the linkage. The bell crank sits at an angle when on the bellhousing ball. Should there be a bracket that the ball is threaded into? Any help would appreciated!

Iirc the ball goes in the block above the oil filter. Is your engine trans and t case in the correct alignment. Many lift kits directions want the t case shimmed down from stock.
the oem clamb shell engine mounts sag. Good mounts will help with z bar alignment. Plenty of members running sm465's I bet someone could get you some pics

The fact that you are putting mechanical linkage on an '89 is part of your problem. An '89 would have had a hydraulic clutch system. So it has none of the mechanical bits on the frame or block unless you got them with the pedals. But a mechanical system could be made to work but you'll need that bracket for the z-bar on the frame and like Wes said the ball stud goes on the block for the z-bar.

I wasn’t able to source a hydraulic bellhousing for the sm465. The adapter for the bellhousing is out of the budget at the moment so I was trying to get all the pieces to work to get me on the road sooner. I would love to go hydraulic if I could find a way to fit it to the mechanical clutch pedal. I haven’t been able to find anywhere that explains anything that doesn’t involve cutting.

The truck came with a 2 inch blocks in back and 1.5 inch blocks in front. I wouldn’t think anything would be shimmed with that. The trans and t case are out right now so there shouldn’t be much sag in the mounts. I’m still getting a pretty bad angle for the z bar.

If the transmission and transfer case are out, nothing is going to line up.
