Anyone have any experience with a good Auto transport company? I need a k-5 delivered from Boise, ID to Dothan, AL. Thanks

I forget who I used. I had mine shipped from DFW to coastal NC. I'll see if the wife can find the paperwork.

Check out Uship. I had great luck with them shipping a motorcycle. They are basically a reverse auction where shippers bid down each other to get your business. Many of the shippers are just a guy with a pick-up and trailer but there is good feedback on them and make sure they have insurance. You can tell which ones are more established.

DO NOT USE DEPENDABLE AUTO SHIPPING!!! That's all I'll say about them.

I have heard that alot! Crazy thing is, I used them (without researching first :doah:) and they were Great! I am guessing I got real lucky ,but, I personally can't say anthing bad about them. I had my K5 shipped from TX to MD , shipping time was estimated at 10 days, it was dropped off to them by the PO on a thurs. am and it was arrived in Baltimore MD sun. evening. There was no damage, nothing missing, no "extra" charges and the employee's at the lot where it was delivered were nothing but helpful and courteous.

From reading other peoples misfortunes with DAS I can't believe how well it went for me :dunno: , it was the first and only vehicle I have ever shipped. I am not trying to discredit anyone else or recommend them to you, just sharing my expierence.:D

I contracted them to ship my Blazer from Las Vegas to San Antonio. Estimated 10 days. Well, 8 days later I calledthem and they said 10 more days. I started tracking it online, and it went from Vegas to Long Beach to Phoenix to El Paso to Dallas then back to Long Beach, back to Dallas, then it just disappeared. Meantime, I had driven to laughlin, Nv for a few days and could have gone and picked it up and driven it home! On the way home from laughlin, drove by the drop off spot, and it was a dump, a wrecking yard! The attendent said it had been there for almost two weeks. The shipping papers proved that true. It had been sitting in a wrecking yard the whole time, broken into, radio, spare, etc stolen. My Blazer is white, but it came in covered in grease big piles of grease. It ruined the paint. DAS only comment to my complaint was,,,should have bought shipping insurance.

Wow that sucks!! I have read alot of stories similar to yours reguarding DAS. I ran across some reviews on them the monday morning after my K5 had been left with them and started to panic. I went to their website and tracked my truck only to find out it was already here, luckily I had a slow day that morning so I jumped in my truck and hauled a** to the drop off lot to check on it. To my delight it was exactly as it was when they got it :D. After reading lots of reviews I guess I was one of the "lucky" ones. Like I said I don't know if I would recomend them because of some of the horror stories I have read, but they did good by me.

I know this is quite irrelevant. But I searched for quotes one day because I had found a Blazer I was THINKING about buying.

I had entered the info into one site (shipmyvehicle.com I THINK), and I've probably gotten a hundred emails from all different agencies. I've gotten several phone calls as well. So my advice is, to leave your phone number blank. They'll usually send you prices through email. You'll get a LOT of emails, but no phone calls. Good luck!

Yeesh! I didn't need to hear a story like that!!:eek1: I have contracted with Worry free shippers. Maybe it will work out.

We had a thread about this recently. I forget which member but he has a grey first gen K5 and did not have a happy experience.

That happened to be me.... haha

I would suggest looking into this more than I did. I received my truck a week late, with stolen license plates, and the paint ruined. They took the liberty to take my soft top off without buckling my 5 point harnesses and they were flailing out the window bashing onto my doors... I'll see if I can dig up a photo of this gloriousness.

Then the driver missed the ramp unloading the truck... no damage done, but just added to the level of inexperience.

I contracted with All American Transport, they booked it with all pro auto transport. My advice to you is so suck it up and pay good money for someone to treat your truck well. I got a hell of a deal and you see where that put me. I don't want to put horror stories in your nightmares, but rather advise you to look into it and not make the same mistakes I did.
