Im looking into autometer guages in my dash, id like to do 5inch tach and speedo, 2 5/8 oil, fuel, volts, water....My question is what did everyone use for the speedo. I need a new speedo cable anyway so what works best, elec guage or mechanical and how does it connect, i need some help with that and any tips for the rest of the job. I thought of just cutting the bezel and mounting em thru the front so they are right in front of me. but i could also uses 3 3/8 speedo, tach then 2 1/16 for the other 4 to save the money. not sure...i know a few of you did it b4.....

if you search pics will show up.

its been a long time for these to be near the top but lots of us have pics posted of custom dash gauge setups.

its not really the pics im after. its more so the speedo and what one was used and how it connects and works..

well i have used and worked with a few electric speedo auto meter units. all i can say is wow :eek1: well worth the money for setup speed and easy of calibration in the end. and if you ever change gears or tires its a simple setup to recalibrate.

no custom made or funky setup spedo cables. less problems in the end if you ask me.

Im running the phantoms in mine, I have the mechanical speedo in mine, couldnt afford the extra for the electronic and then for the sender. Got the cable off ebay for ~40 bucks as I recall, since you cant reuse the stocker with the autometer gauges. I was originally wanting to mount mine behind the factory bezel, but I got a junkyard bezel and cut and fitted and cut and fitted and then attempted to mount them, and it was a huge hassle, so I cut my good bezel and mounted em to the front.
