I ordered the aux battery parts from LMC.

I found the little dimples to drill out to attatch the support. What I can't figure out is how exactly is this tray supposed to attatch to the support.

I ordered all the stuff LMC says you need, but appearantly I missed something. There's nothing in the diagram showing how the tray attatches to the mount. If it's put together wrong could somebody please enlighten me..thanks:confused:

Yeah, kinda stupid, huh?

I think LMC is selling the (primary) passenger side tray as working on both. I couldn't find a way for it to bolt up with the holes it has, so I drilled through it into the support below:

Seems like those two holes on the left (towards the motor) should go to the right (towards the fender), but dang if I could figger out how.

Anyway, you can see where I drilled holes for two 3/8" bolts at the centerline of the supports below, through the tray and through the support. Here's another pic, hopefully make more sense that way:

The battery tray in the picture is a left side, one piece tray from LMC. Bolted right in.

That pic is of '81 and newer, correct? Hillbilly is working on a '73.

As far as I know, the older set-up is supposed to be spot welded. That is the way the factory stuff is. If you bolt it together, make sure the bolt heads don't rub the bottom of the battery.

Thanks alot guys. I was worried that I was just being a dumbass and totally missing some detail. :laugh:

The two holes on the engine side of the tray at first looked like they line up with the holes in the fender, but they don't, then I realized the battery hold down would be backwards.

The one hole that does line up I see dremu has a bolt in. I was thinking that too but also worried about the battery sitting on the bolt.

Mebbe it's time for :weld::burb:!!!!!

Thanks alot for posting the pics:waytogo:

I fixed

the bastard. I pretty much just copied dremu, only I put two bolts where the bottom and top lined up best. It seems plenty strong enough. The bolt heads are plenty low enough to not hit the battery. I was gonna weld 'em together but the way the two pieces line up is so wierd that i just gave up. Now I don't have to re-paint it either:laugh:

Now i just need money for that second battery:frown1:
