I just called one of the local salvage yards and they want $400 :eek1: . That is crazy! Gonna call a few more, but last time I was looking they all wanted around the same price.
So whats the market like in your area?

Summers auto wrecking SLC UT
any rear axle 250
any front axle 300

I did see several D60's Newer dodge style:(

You can get one around here for $90.00-$125.00 all day long at the junk yard.

Thats not terrible. I was hoping to pay around $150 for a rear. Front is a different story though. Supposedly if I drive up to ND my dads buddy has a bunch of 1 ton stuff that he would just give me. But I cant make that drive cheap unless I am picking up a few D60s and getting rid of them. Plus I would have to rent a truck or trailer.

I sold the 14bolt from my m1008 with the Detroit and 4.56's for $400.

That I would pay :D The ones I called about didnt have lockers or the gears I wanted. Guess I will just have to wait for summer when I can make it north.

I bought a whole Blazer with 3/4 tons to get mine and ended up keeping the axles tranny tcase sold some stuff and made money on the whole deal:D

dewd what??

lak2004,, shouldnt be more than $100. stay away from junkyards, craigslist is yer best friend

I try to use CL a lot but I just dont live in a populated enough area. Every once in a while I will post up wanted ad for axles and get ridiculous responses. Had a guy try to sell me his 10 bolts saying they were tons and he wanted $1000 haha :doah::haha:

Open and G80 14s go around here for anywhere from free (not uncommon) to about $200, depending on the condition.

Although I did see a guy try to get $600 for a freshly painted one with a "chrome cover!", braided lines, and some crappy disc conversion. That was worth a read for a good laugh.

free....
i i came across a 2wd some dude wanted out of his driveway... Motor ran good so my buddy took that, and i took the rear end..

but im sure you can find a POS truck on craigslist, for cheap... use the 14 bolt out of it,,, slap your 12 or 10 in there and sell it for the same price you bought it for... or a few bucks more... who knows..

junk yards are overpriced when it comes to complete units... atleast all the ones ive been too

A buddy of mine bought a 500 dollar ford hi pinion d44 from the J-yard, cuz he couldnt find an axleshaft to replace the one he busted.

I shouldnt say "couldnt find" i should say he gave it a "halfassed try"

The small junkyard down the road from me will sell any axle EXCEPT a front D60 for $100.
