I totally destroyed the bumpers on my K5 the last time I took it offroad. I'd like to replace them with a set of fabricated offroad bumpers. I found a rear bumper to install, but still need a front.

I was approached by a semi-local fab shop who is willing to build me a bumper similar to the one in the picture I've attached in trade for my dually D60. I recently pulled it out and installed a 3/4 ton 10 bolt so I'd have matching gears (D60 is 4.56, other diffs are 3.73). Keeping in mind that I only have 34" tires & I am running open diffs, I am not so worried about breaking anything at the moment.

I paid $500 for the D60, but it is worth about $800 local market value.

What say CK5 -- Decent deal, or would I be getting myself hosed?

That looks like a pretty simple bumper BUT when a customer asks me about a plate bumper I usually say at least 500 with the norm being closer to 700.

Lots of steel used in a plate bumper a ton of time spent welding or alot of bending going on so alot of time used up.

There is alot going on behind in a plate bumper too at least a properly built one.

I should add that a couple of bumpers I have built that are plate cost well into the thousand dollar range

Thats kind of what I figured too... The biggest problem with the D60 is that it is a dually. Gonna cost me nearly as much to convert it to SRW as it would to just go and buy a SRW diff outright, haha

As long as they build a decent bumper, seems like a good deal to me. Swap straight across? I would. Let's see some pics of #2 when it's done!:D
