hey all.. Well.. I pulled out some wires that went to the controller for a previously installed diesel engine heater.. It's one of those crazy heaters that runs off the fuel system and literally heats the engine so it starts like its summer time even on the coldest day.. Anyway.. The heater had long since been disconnected so I removed it.. All went smooth with the removal.. But when cutting a few wires under the dash that "I thought" we're part of the controller/timer that controlled the heater from inside the truck. I must have snipped the power wire or wires in the harness for the radio.. Everything else in the truck works.. All I lost was the radio power.. Can anyone tell me what colour the wire or wires are that is the power to the radio?.. I need to get my head up under the dash to try and find it damn it.. I suppose it should be self evident.. But just in case I'd like to know what wires I'm looking for.. Also.. What fuse controls the radio?.. I suppose I should check that too.. Thanks!..

Radio power wires on GMs have usually been red or yellow in my experience, but that's by no means a guarantee. The easiest way is to get a multimeter and test. The wire that's always hot will be your memory wire, the switched power should be the radio power. Assuming your wiring is original, the snipped wire should be relatively easy to locate, since in that vicinity of the dash pretty much the only wiring is radio related. On square bodies, the fuse will be labeled as radio on the in-cab fuse box, it should be a 20 amp.
