Hey I'm building up my 79' K5 and I just bought a 77' 3/4 ton for the 14bff but... I'm trying to find out if the axels are the year of the truck. Where can I look on the web to find out??? I have the numbers off the axles and just wanted to check. Also I have a couple of np205 transfers and was going to put one in my k5, but when I dropped the just rebuilt turbo350 out of this 3/4 ton it had a tranfer case on it that I haven't seen before. Maybe one of you can tell me what it is. I haven't cleaned it to get numbers but it's HUGE compared to the np205. Any ideas???? Thanks

You could call a wrecking yard if you have the BOM numbers and they should be able to give you the year of the axle. The T-case you have is probably a 203, they have a cast iron range box with either a cast iron or an aluminum rear planetary housing. You should find a NP tag on the front just above the front output yoke that will say which case, date code, and also the ratio (2.01:1) for a 203.

Yeah I just went out and wiped the tag and it's a np203 with 201:1 gearing, the np205 is probably a better transfer case to run then right?

A 203 isn't that bad a case, got a bad wrap cause the chains went out in them. I only had one, so can't say much about it. A 77 will have the 14ff out back and a Dana 44 up front. If you have the numbers for the front axle, post them here, someone can look them up for yah.

Well the front axle on the cover side says K156 458856 and on the axle tube it says WJG73511 and the rear on the pinion says CFD 335 and 3977323 and on the axle tube it says RFNGO 321.

None of those numbers look like a BOM, should start with a 6, IF it's a Dana axle.

Thats the numbers that were on the axles??? The WJG73511 & RFNGO321 were stamped into the axels and the other numbers are raised numbers on the axles.
