I was offered a deal on some axles today and I need help in ID. and whether or not they are worth having. The front axle is a 3.07 ratio and has 10 bolts on the cover with full time hubs on it still. There is a code cast into the case that appears to read C36585. Is this a Dana 44? The rear axle has 12 bolts on the cover and has the code GM 66 cast into it. Is this a 12 Bolt?
Now the question, Would there be any value in swapping these into my 87' K5 that has a 3.42 ratio? I am running a fresh 700R4 behind a fresh rollercam 350.
The transfer case is also available. It is cast iron and all of this came out of a 77' 1/2 ton 4X4.

Thanks for the help.

There is no advantage , your gearing already is too little for larger tires , why make it worse .

You want to find axles with higher number gears , which are lower . Look for 4.10's or better .

How about the full time transfer case? Any value?

It's BIG and HEAVY, and doesn't have as good of a ratio as your current 208 does. It also would take a good amount of work and money to make it work with your current trans.

That np 203 would only be useful if you're going to use a doubler to mate reduction portion to np205.

no - you can find the gearing you want cheap and a 203 for $50.00.

I got my 12 bolt for $200 - freshly rebuilt and my front 10 for essentially free.

Keep looking. Find someone going 1 ton. A lot just want stuff gone.

I agree with Pauly - I'm running 3.73 and 33's behind a Th350 and a 203 and they are too low. I wish I would have gone 4.10's.

EDIT: Post up in the wanted section and see what pans out.

Thanks for the advice. I was not looking to change anything on my running gear, but today I got a call from a guy that is hurting for money and needed to sell this stuff to fix his pickup. I told him that the ratio was not what I was looking for or the trans/transfer case would not work for me either. I was looking for the info from CK5ers to learn as well as let everyone know that they were available. I figured that the price was too high to start with. That's why I didn't mention the price earlier as I thought that if someone needed any of the parts that I would bargain with the guy to help the brotherhood. For now I will pass on the deal and he can fix his Furd some other way.

IMHO, they're not worth it. How would you know the trans is any good? Cores are a dime a dozen.
