i have a d44 front axle that is in need of some help. the seals were bad but when i tore it apart i found that the passenger side axle shaft has stripped splines and it stripped the splines in the differential too. i am on a really tight budget but i think that this would be a good time to upgrade some parts. im not sure what axle shafts i should get or where to get them. i want to put a lock right up front and that would fix the problem with the striped spines in the gears. where would be the best place to get one and how much should i plan on spending for all this

If your talking about chromo shafts your gonna spend about $400 plus a u-joint to be chromo from the diff to the hub. your better off finding a bunch of spare shafts.

i will probably just find some spare shafts untill i can save up a little more money. they shouldnt be too hard to get ahold of. what about the lockright? where is the cheapest place to get one?

google man........ you cant gain respect here just asking for everything...... but just look at the back of a off road magazine ull find plenty of places to get drivetrain parts at

the aussie locker looks like a good choice. thats probably what i will put in there. but first i need to get the old carrier out. what are the tricks? the rear 12 bolt came apart real easy. the front 44 is a pain. i have tried prying it out but i havent had any luck

you did pull both shafts right???

yes, both shafts are out. both bearing caps are off. nothing is there to hold the carrier in. but it is staying in there pretty darn good

ok, i will try that in the morning. i just picked up some longer pry bars so hopefully the extra leverage will do the trick

i just picked up a set of stock shafts, if you cant find a set PM me for these. everybody knows you gotta hold your mouth the right way when you are wrenchin or it wont cooperate.

also you gotta sneak up on it and wham! it wont even know youre there any it will come out really easy.
