Alright guys, im replacing my front axle shaft Ujoints.. i feel like an idiot asking this question but i got the axle shafts out.. they have been replaced once, took the clips off.. well more like cut everything out cuz the c clips were stuck in there, so now i have all 4caps stuck in the end of each ear to the shafts. I have tried heating them with a propane torch and beating them out... i have now put a bolt inside with a nut to expand inbetween each ear to hopefully not bend the ears and continue beating, they wont move worth anything. Someone have a tip for these stubborn things? its for a dana 44 as well if that helps

Get a bigger hammer :D

A press works too. Good job on setting up a spreader, most people wouldn't do that and many have ruined shafts by bending the yokes.

and not to sound even more stupid... but doesnt matter what way i pound on them right? they can come out either way?

Have you tried to soak them with PB Blaster? Let them soak in that for a day and then try to beat them out. Maybe ad a little more heat after they soak too. :D

X2 on the PB blaster. That stuff works...just soak it for a day or two. Spray them real good every hour or so for a day or two and it should help out a bit.
