axle shim install

so i am putting in axle shims on my blazer i have a block lift set up. my question is where do the axle shims go? sounds like a dumb question but im not sure if they go in between the spring and the block. or if they go between the block and the axle spring perch? one last question do i have to bolt them to the spring or will they stay in place just like the lift block dose?

Bolt them to the spring.

what he said.. this way there is less of a chance of them to get "spit out" under load.

Keep in mind that with any significant shim and blocks the axle will move forward more the longer the block.
