axle swap question

83 k5 with 10bolts front and rear
looking to swap the axles the to dana 44 and 12 bolt rear out of suburban
is it a strait up bolt in deal suspension steering ect?
anybody been there

Other than the possibility of maybe a ujoint change, its a bolt on and go swap

need bigger gears and the 44/12 come with 373s

Yes, it will swap right in. You will need a "bastard" U joint to mate the D-shat to the 12b yoke. They are not hard to find.

I had to swap a 12b in place of my old 10b in my 84 K5 when my wife turned the 10b into the letter "J". The 12 was the only gear match whole axle I could find handy, and the price was really good.

U-joint like already said. 1310 (12 bolt) to S44 (10 bolt) 3-3130. the front u-joints were the same.

I made my swap trickier because I wanted to keep my 10b calipers and rotors. If you do that you need to swap the caliper brackets. The hubs are different so I also had to swap the hubs.
