Axle swap Question

I want to get a 14 bolt on my 86 k-5, would it matter what year truck I took it out if I was to reuse my same springs so that I wouldn't need to move my perches?

Any 3/4 ton 14bff will bolt in.

It doesnt HAVE to....the differance is the perches, 1 ton are spring under and 3/4 are spring over. If you get a 3/4 the perches line right up. The only thing to think about is your E-brake.

Spring under?? Only truck that I've seen that was spring under was an S-10. 3/4 ton has the right perch width, 1 tons use a narrower perch, but can be cut off and new perches welded on. Easier to get the 3/4 ton. Get a conv. joint, maybe shock mounts, dunno bout e-brake, never had any that worked.

I think he means the u-bolts point down instead of up.
