kinda confused on this one but will an axle from another car manufacturer ie dodge work on my chevy? will certain years work and not others? whats the difference between them and what do i need to replace to make an axle from a different truck work for mine, if thats at all possible? thanks for your time and knowledge.

you can make any axle from any manufacturer fit under any vehicle. its simply a matter of how much work you want to do. an easier question to answer would be "will an axle from a ????? fit under a ????" you knid of narrowed it down with dodge and chevy. but there are still many years and models to work through.

lets eliminate some variables. remember, some people here have welders and an imagination. to them, anything is possible. :D

I have heard of people putting Dodge or Ford D60's in their Chebby. I think the Dodge is close to a bolt up deal. Donno about the Ferd.

chevy and dodge can be interchangeable.. the spring perch in the front on the dodge is about 1/2" narrower but you can stretch your leaf springs out. many say its okay to drive on the road with it, others say they wouldn't.

yea i just ran across a good deal for a dodge d60 but i havent done an axle swap before so i was just trying to figure out if it would be an easy swap to put on a chevy but im thinking id rather just wait for a good deal on a chevy one and save myself the hassle

from my understanding, it's the spring perch position and tierod position that are different, but doable...

There are lots of people with Dodge D60's under Chevy trucks.

If you can get a good deal on it go ahead and get it. Its not very hard to get it under your truck.

i got dodge dana 44 knuckles on my chevy 10 bolts if that counts. other then having to retaper the tie rod holes, cut off the molded in caliper brackets, changing out the spindle studs and cutting and notching parts of it to accept the chevy caliper bracket it was a direct bolt on :hack:
