hey guys, i just had my DD blow the rear diff apart in it. its a 99 GMC sierra 5.3 1500 with a GM 10 bolt with limited slip. i also have a 95 silverado with a GM 10 bolt that im not using at the minute and i was wondering if it would be a direct bolt in, and if the disc brakes on the 99 10 bolt will fit on the 95.

what do you guys think

Being that the '99 is the next body style the only thing that comes to mind right off the bat is the ABS, is there any type of input from the rear end either through the housing at the ring/pinion or at the wheels? Parking brake setup different?

You're '99 is such a common truck, especially the 1/2 ton flavor I might just rebuild it or find a dismantling yard with a low mile truck and swap axles.

What "blew up"?

yea i know its a common truck that are being parted out but all of the scrap yards around here are nazi's and think a GM10 bolt is gold or something and want like 500 bucks for a 200k one.

the limited slip blew the carrier apart and the center pine came out and just broke everything spiders ring gear pinion gear lol everything.

the good thing is, the axle has no speed sensors or anything on it. im hoping i can just swap backing plates and all my brake stuff will just swap over but idk if it will match up or not.

ill try to get a pic of the brokin stuff here in a bit lol

here is a crappy cell pic but you can kinda see what happened

i know when gm went disk from factory lots of positions and clocking changed on the axle flange were the brake backing plate / rotor bracket bolted up.

dont think its gone swap sorry..

i had a 88 c20 drum brake axle and wanted disk 1 time. found 10 bolt axle with all disk parts pulled the 1 side on each to find all the diffrences and wasnt going to work with out huge mods.

is the mounting flange on the axles diffrent differences from the end of the axle or is the flanged clocked or rotated more or something

I swapped in a rear axle into my 2005 where the spider gears blew up. I used a 1986 rear axle... a bit narrower, but i used wheel spacers, (changed the lugs to the larger style (used a machine shop to open the lug holes on the axle flange) and used a conversion u-joint.. also note that i had to move the spring perches out.,, but if I can do it in my 2 car garage with less then $500 and no welder, then you should have no problem
