Would axles from a 73-87 K20 be a direct bolt on fit to 73 blazer? I think they are but just want someone with experince to chime in. Any pitfalls in making this swap?

Thanks.

Any square body K20will be mostly a direct swap. Things like the rear u-bolts and plates, u-joint at the rear axle, rear driveshaft length and front brake caliper hoses & hardware (depending on the donor year) are the only hurdles I can think of.

You'll likely get better gears with the K20 axles so no real down side. Beware that in the 80's there were light and heavy duty K20's which dictated different rear axles (semi floater vs full floater 14 bolts), the semi floater is still a good axle but it's not comparable to the full floater that most people use.

Only pitfall is the Money spent. Past that it is all good upgrades. I went with a GM King Pin D60 for the front. A late Model FF 14 Bolt. The later model (ribbed housing) is only 1/4" narrower than the front axle. Why that makes me crazy, I do not know.

Be sure to map out everything you plan to do as one mod, impacts another. Lifting any also? Driveshafts long enough and good enough? Shackle flip? Moving axles forward/back any? Steering upgrades at the same time? Brake line sizes/rear drop the same?

As commented above, make sure you know what you're picking up. I assumed full-float 3/4 ton meant 14-bolt. After I installed and actually counted mine, I was introduced to an early 70's rear Dana 60. :-)

Good luck!
