Hi
The local junkyard has a 96 C30 Van and 92 and 97 3500 duallies all look to have a dana 70 under them. Looking at the single axle out of the van looks like a 70 but i could be wrong.
My question is how tough a swap will this be to a 88?
I figuring perches need moved, regeared, rims tires ect. Will brakes need modified? (drums are there)
Also I thinking this is over kill for 35's but the yard only wants 115 complete.

About the only thing needing to be modified on the axle would be the spring perches. The brakes will work, may need to get an adapter to match your line though. If the gearing is differn't than your front, one will need to be changed.

The only thing you might need to consider is a hub swap to keep the track width within spec. Or you could get some wheels with the correct ammount of backspacing/offeset.

Yes, I agree. Those are probably 14 bolts. 14 bolts have been used on 3/4 and 1 ton GM vehicles since the dawn of time. They do look kind of like Dana 70s though.

I know about the Eaton axles that were used before about 1973, but when have Dana 70s been used on Chevys?
