Axle Tube Diameter

What is the diameter of a 14 bolt axle tube and how thick are those tubes? Reason I am asking, well you see, I was cutting off the old spring perches (van width) and well the wheel went a little deep and got into the tube. It barely went in maybe 1 mm but i just want to see what you all thought. I think I am going to have a bead laid over it when I go to weld the new perches on there.

3/8" wall
