I am running a 10 bolt with an E-Locker and 3.73 gears in the front of my Jimmy. I used the u joint out of my spare axle to fix my son-in-law's Cherokee on the trail. I need to replace it so I have a backup. It appears the Spicer number I should use is 5-760x. For a few dollars more I can buy an Alloy USA joint that they advertise as being stronger. Should I stick with Spicer, or is the Alloy USA joint a better product?
My other concern is that my axle shafts are stock so is it better not to go overkill on the u-joint so it is the weak point instead of the shaft? I realize that sometimes when the U-joint goes it takes the ears off the axle.

On a 10 bolt the shafts are generally weaker than the joint.

Alloy USA makes good stuff, try searching pirate for opinions on their x-joint.

that's why i run basic u-joints. i've killed a few u-joints, but never a shaft, gear or axle. i'm not saying buy junk that you know will break, but the u-joint is a very cheap thing to replace and normally will not cause massive carnage if it goes. most major auto chains carry non-greasable joints that are a little stronger than the others since they don't have metal removed for grease passages, and they don't cost a fortune.

go with the cheaper one but buy two!
