Hey,

The u-joints on my 77 K5 front axles are shot. What's a good source for a step up from the OEM u-joints? Everything is stock, but looking ahead at putting on a lift kit/tires.

Buy spicer life series U-joints (available at most driveline shops, call Jesse at High Angle Driveline).

You can also order them online at WFO Concepts. I ordered the Spicer joints for my D60 from WFO. Along with 35 spline stubs and king pin kits.

$49 for a pair of them-

Your truck, if it's stock, probably has the 10b, which uses the same axle joint as the D44.

Not really a hijack but a question on the link you posted.

At the bottom of the WFO page you pasted it says in RED, "Warning: when installing do not mix up the caps upon installation. Each cap comes with a pre determined amount of grease." Now my question is when ever I install a non-greasable u-joint I always take the caps off one by one and add additional grease inside each cap so I get more/better lube than what was put in at the factory. Is that warning telling us not to do such a thing. Or just saying not to mix up the caps???? What's your take?

DO NOT add anymore grease. The U-joint comes with a pre-determined amount of grease already.

OK, but why. Why is it good to top off a greasable joint occasionally but not good to simply pull a cap off and add a bit to a non greasable?

I have no idea why the WFO website says that, doesn't make much sense to me. I worked at High Angle Driveline for close to a year and a half. I installed literally thousands of u-joints during that time, not once did I , or Jesse, ever worry about mixing caps, or not adding an extra little squirt of grease.

I ended buying Spicer u-joints. There was a slip of paper in each box stating not to mix up the cups and not to add grease.
