Ive heard people say both ways but i want to clarify.....van axles are wider right? and in trucks and blazers the rear axle is wider right? Whats the reason behind that?

Also this might kinda sound dumb but how do you tell a 1 ton axle from a 3/4 ton?

the van diffs are wider than blazers and trucks so i've heard.

the front of blazers and trucks are wider than the rear though. that's why the front sticks out further.

almost positive that's how it is

spring perch widths dicatate 3/4 to 1 ton. and van 14s are wider than pickup and blazer rears.

why are they wider? Im going to cut the spring perchs off and weld new ones on...but is it better to just use square tube or does someone sell some beffy perchs?

Van 14ff axles are 3" wider than a truck 14ff and the difference between a 3/4 and 1 ton is the spring perch spacing and also shock mount location. A 3/4 ton axle has 42.5" centers on the perches and a 1 ton is 40.5" centers. The front axle on GM trucks, blazers ans subs is wider than the rear by 3" usually. Some people like the looks of the front and rear having the same track width and this is why some people put the van 14ff axle into their rigs. However doing that reduces your turning radius.
