Are 10bolts in k5's narrower than 10bolts in 88-98?

I have a 14sf from a Older 2wd Suburban the style before 92 and I want to make it work

is the 10bolt rear end WMS in the OBS 88-98 k series trucks wider than the WMS of the 73-91?

seems like the 10bolt in my '88 is narrower than the 10 bolt in my dad's '96

My friend took the 10 bolt rear out of his '96 Z71 and replaced it with a 14 bolt FF from a '79 k20, the two were within a half inch of being the same width.

The 88-98 trucks have the spring mounting pads spaced out more than the 73-87 trucks, but that is an easy fix. The shock mounts are spaced differently as well.

I thought the difference was 3" new vs. old?

My 14SF out of a 90's truck definitely was wider by 3". (vs. the '86 10 bolt in it). Spring perches obviously in the wrong spot.

Well I got a 14sf from a 2wd and I wanted to use it on my '88 k5 and I dont want it to be too narrow

The 14sf was too narrow for the 96 OBS I had

They should be pretty close. I think rear 10bolts are around 65" and if that 14SF came out of an older truck, then it should be similar. New body styles went wider to about 67"...

The 3/4 ton and 1 ton stuff is wider at 67.5" rear, 69.5"(SRW)front....

well I believe the 14sf from the 2wd is 64" WMS to WMS

If the 14sf is wider i dont care but if its only an inch narrow then I'll still use it
