Axles in a 69-71 K20 ?

Front is a closed knuckled drum brake 44, rear is an Eaton, possibly a Dana 60. The rears are fine, could even get a factory Detroit locker, but the front I'd pass on. If you can get the truck cheap, swap the front out of something newer that has open knuckle and disc brakes.

i have info otherwise first hand.

my dad had a 69 or 70 k20 all orginal. was open knuckle drum brake dana 44 front 4.56 and dana 60 powerloc rear. had 4 speed/205 setup.

but his was a gmc possibly the diffrence i dont know.

67(& prior) to 69 had closed knuckle, drum brake. 70 was an oddball year with the open knuckles and drums...you can swap the knuckles out for discs on this year. and then 71 and newer are open, disc.

rears as stated will be D60 FF or Eaton.

OK, most application I am familiar with are D60 front axles. I do recall reading about reverse rotation and similar stuff.

If the 60 is a FF, I am guessing it will be just fine for an off road truck short of competetive rock crawling.

Not at all sure about what an Eaton is. Thoughts.

looks like I am looking for a 71-72 if I want a classic, round fenderwell pickup with the best goodies.

Honestly just looking for a cool truck with a 350 engine and the 465 tranny. kinda found a '77 with above, but a bit more body damage than I wanted to deal with.

love the look of the rounded wheel wells and missed out on them in my '74 K5.
