So, my brother in law just told me about a guy that can get new 14 bolt rear ends with 4.56 gears and Detroit Lockers, brakes (the works and ready to install, except for the perches) and a 60 front (ready to go too) for $1800. Is that a good deal?

These are brand new in the crate.

This would be my first real modication and I don't want to get burned.

well, i can tell you this. i parted a few m1008s a long time ago. one set with 17k and the other two sets had around 25k or something close to that. i got 1800 each for all three sets with low miles. so brand new i dont think its to bad a price.

Okay, so what rims do I need for this? What's the lug pattern, and what backspacing do I need? (or is recommend the better term?)

Thanks all.

you will need 8 lug wheels, not to sure on backspacing. i think you will need 16.5" rims to clear the big drums or you could get 8 lug 15" rims and grid the caliper a bit. hope that helps

16" rims and larger fit with no modifications. 15s will fit the rear without modification, but you will have to grind the caliper and bracket to fit the front end.

Ok the only way i thought they would fit was if you put disc in the rear

no, I have 15 inchers in mine and there is plent of room in the back. Now the front on the other hand...
