There's a fellow local to me selling a set of 10 bolts from a K-5. Specs are 4.10 gears, open front, detroit in the rear, rear axle shafts are aftermarket made by Seirra.

I'm going to be running 33" Super Swamper LTB's in the near future with no lift, and down the line I plan on dropping a GM crate 350 in. Think these would do me? He's asking $450 and they've been listed for a while, thinking I could probably get them for less...

If you don't plan on going bigger, then you'll be fine, I'd say up to 35's you'd be ok, just don't push their limits. talk him down as much as possible.

As said above, they should hold up alright. IMO the weakest part of a 10 bolt rear is the carrier and that has been eliminated with the Detroit. If you go to to look at them, take wrench with you and pull the cover to verify you are getting what is described and not a 10 bolt with a lunch box locker in it.

all depends on how you drive offroad too. if you start trying to climb rock hills and bouncing the rear end they might not last.

i ran 38s with 10 bolts for abou 5 years with a 400ci engine and only broke one front axle shaft the whole time.
